BREAST AUGMENTATION

ABOUT

Breast Augmentation

Breasts can be augmented using implants or by injecting your own fat. Around the world, implants are commonly used; however, many Asian women prefer fat grafting for a more discreet form of enhancement.

PROCEDURES

Procedural Approaches

Breast reconstruction can be performed using implants, your own tissue, or a combination of both.

Breast Implants

Implants are placed either under the breast or under the pectoral muscle. Silicone implants are the first choice, while saline implants are available upon request.

Fat Grafting

Your own fat is harvested from areas with excess fat. The fat is processed and injected through small incisions around the breasts.

Combined Approach

Fat grafting can be used alongside implants to create a more natural look.

Why Not Fat Only?

Suitable candidates have minimal droopiness and sufficient fat. Large augmentations may require multiple sessions.

INDICATIONS

Who May Consider Breast Augmentation

  • Individuals who are not satisfied with their breast size or shape

  • Those whose breasts have finished developing

SAFETY

Risks & Considerations

General Safety

While breast augmentation is commonly performed and generally considered safe when done by qualified surgeons, as with any surgical procedure, complications may occur. Surgeons follow strict clinical protocols to minimise risks where possible.

Capsular Contracture

Scar tissue around an implant may tighten, causing discomfort or shape change. Multiple factors are involved; careful technique aims to lower likelihood.

Implant Rupture

Rupture may occur from trauma or shell wear over time. Use of medical‑grade implants and proper handling may help reduce risk.

Cancer Risk

There is no evidence linking breast augmentation to increased breast cancer incidence.

Sensation Changes

While the risk is low, there is a small risk of permanent loss of nipple or breast sensation.

AFTERCARE

Downtime & Recovery

  • Bruising and swelling generally resolve in about 2 weeks

  • Most patients can return to work as early as the next day

  • Implants typically last around 20 years unless complications occur

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to breastfeed after having implants?

Yes, breast augmentation will not affect your ability to breastfeed.

Breast implants can block between 10-25% of the breast during mammography. There are special mammographic views that are performed in women who have breast implants in order to optimise the view as well as not to disrupt your implant.

A computer simulation of the surgery can be done for you to give you an idea of the possible result after surgery.

🩺 A full evaluation with an MOH-accredited doctor is required to determine suitability for the procedure.
