BREAST LIFT
ABOUT
Breast Lift
A breast lift (mastopexy) lifts droopy breasts to improve nipple position and breast shape. It may be done together with nipple or areolar reduction to enhance aesthetics. Breast volume can also be augmented at the same time, known as augmentation mastopexy.
PROCEDURES
Procedural Approaches
Breast reconstruction can be performed using implants, your own tissue, or a combination of both.
- Lifting the nipple using various surgical techniques.
- Possible use of breast implants alone in selected patients.
- Incisions placed around the nipple to elevate it.
- Additional incisions on the breast if excess skin needs to be removed.
INDICATIONS
Who May Consider Breast Lift
You may benefit from a breast lift if you have lost breast volume or tissue support due to weight loss, breastfeeding, or ageing.
If your nipples sit lower than desired or if your breasts lack upper pole fullness, a lift may be suitable.
A simple self-check: place a pencil under the breast. If it stays in place after letting go, you may be a candidate for a lift.
SAFETY
Risks & Considerations
Scarring
Scars are usually hidden under the breast or around the areola. Additional incisions may be necessary if excess skin needs removal.
